Catching Up on the Last Couple of Days
I’d like to say I’ve spent the last couple of days surfing for Beautifeel shoes, eating bon bons, and lounging in my pajamas. So not so.
One of my major enemies right now is ragweed. Not because I’m allergic to it, but because R. is and when she is in the midst of an allergy attack [...]

Trying a New Sidebar Service
Second Update: Okay, this time I’ve embedded the Zannel widget as a permanent sticky post at the top of the page. It gets around the issues of size in the sidebar. All new text posts will appear under the widget and all the mobile stuff will always be there at the top of the page. [...]

Miss Aussie Knew Us All, Every One
Miss Austin McGary Durst, known affectionately as “Miss Aussie,” taught first grade in the Little Town for 62 years, retiring at age 80 when a procedural change offended her sense of educational propriety. I almost missed out being a part of her legacy. She retired the summer before I started first grade, but was persuaded [...]

Sticking with What We Have
If Dorey could get his paws on some of that programmable digital signage I’m sure it would be scrolling something like, “Blatant abuse. Cat suffers multiple gooping. Human claims tastes like chicken. Only if bird raised in sewer. Send help.”
Yes, I’m still in the adventuresome land of dragging my cat out from under pieces of [...]

Dorey, “Let me guess, let me guess. Dr. Susan SAID.”
And we know that any sentence that begins with “Dr. Susan said . . .,” does not turn out the way the cat wants it to.
I’d say Dorey’s opinion of his Tuesday is pretty clear from the expression on his face. I lost count, but I know Dr. Susan took out at least two teeth, [...]

Worn Down
Well, I can’t afford any St. Martin villa rentals, but I’d escape somewhere if I could.
The mostly good news is that the very scary swelling that came up suddenly on Dorey’s face today is because of an abscessed canine tooth, which will be extracted in the morning. Hopefully there is no connection to the cancer [...]

Personally, I’m Not Seeing It
Other geeky types fantasize over things like bigger Viewsonic monitors, heftier iPods, faster networks. Me? I want one of those easy buttons from the commercial. No, I need one of those easy buttons.
Just when I was pretty doggone sure we’d gone through every potential glitch on this refinance thing, they came up with another one. [...]

Black Leather, Jose Cuervo, Shotguns, Crazed Road Trip — Pick One
Sometimes when I’ve been really stressed, I get out my journal, refer to my day notes, and make a list of major crazy-making stuff to see if I’m over-reacting or justified in wanting to:
(a) Don black leather and run off to Tiajuana with a guy named Bruiser who drives a Harley.
(b) Buy a case of [...]

Midnight Drops a Dime
Okay, first a little update. This business deal that has been driving me insane? All we’re doing is refinancing the townhouse. I started trying to get this in place before we went to the Little Town on August 14th. I thought we were all set to sign the papers tomorrow, but no, no, no, no, [...]

The Independent State of Chinchvania
The chinch bug phone call did it. (Yes, I was ignorant of their existence as well. If you want to get a closer look, click the thumbnail.) The Empress called me before I had my first cup of coffee to apprise me of the imminent danger in which we unsuspecting residents have been existing [...]
