Quick and Disjointed Entry
After a full day at the keyboard working on The Project That Shall Not Be Named, I’m finally finding a few minutes to blog. If you’ve been keeping up with some of the daily photos on the flickr stream, you will have noticed that our dining room table is getting to be more of a [...]

Still Here, Still Chugging
All of yesterday was given over to the Project That Shall Not Be Named. No random surfing, no looking at Orlando golf ads even though I haven’t played golf in 30 years, and no blogging. In fact, I didn’t even think about the fact that I hadn’t posted anything until I turned the light out [...]

Mini Update on the Fitness Thing
Yesterday the Tour de France came to an end and already this morning I’m missing the inspiration of having the coverage running on the television while I work. During my own personal Get My Butt in Gear odyssey, I haven’t used anything like bodybuilding supplements, but I have relied on the example of others.
Watching Ali [...]

Photo Shoot Report
While I don’t sit around contemplating St. Barts villa rentals for a getaway, I was ready to bolt and run just about anywhere yesterday when the Wookie pointed the camera at me for the first time. I wouldn’t have let anybody but him do this because I literally despise having my picture taken and can, [...]

Okay, B.R. Insisted
Because B.R. knows what I looked like years ago and because she likes to think I do whatever she tells me to do, here’s one of the photos the Wookie took of me today. Consensus of opinion seems to suggest I look a little different these days. (I HATE having my picture taken [...]

Tumultuous Couple of Days
Okay, the last day and a half have just been downright tumultuous, but certainly interesting.
Wednesday night R. announced that she wanted fish for supper. I went down to the neighborhood joint, where orders are placed in the bar. The bartender is an acquaintance of mine and asked how the bike riding was going. I answered [...]

The Passing of a Strong Woman
Click thumb for larger image.
The dark-haired woman sitting at the kitchen table was one of my mother’s best friends. Mary Gene died yesterday at 82. Since B.R. called to give me the news I’ve felt an odd, hollow sense of remembrance. Mary Gene was, if nothing else, a complicated and interesting woman.
During my father’s “rancher [...]

Disjointed Monday Morning
Some of my writing for The Project That Shall Not Be Named has had me looking at vacation spots offering fractional ownership. So not in the budget, but with the weatherman predicting 103 degrees for the metroplex today, I would be most happy to be sitting in the mountains sipping my coffee on a cool [...]

It’s Hot in Texas and Getting Hotter
Yesterday was the kind of day when babies in their strollers need air conditioners and we adults should have the good sense to keep them and ourselves inside. I went to Central Market after we enjoyed a visit from Dr. Susan and Nathan and saw this one kid parked on the patio in a truly [...]

Quick Catch-Up
Before I settle down to work this morning I wanted to post a quick catch-up on the last couple of days. Tuesday I was in the vet clinic for Dorey’s needle biopsy, which, as you already know, was good news. We are making zero progress with his weight. He’s now tipping the scales at 19 [...]
