Recent Case of Blogus Interruptus

Obviously this has been an incredibly interrupted month for blogging. I realized this morning that it’s been just 25 days since Dr. Susan found the lesion on Dorey’s mouth. In those 25 days I’ve been to Dallas more times than I have in the last ten years.
On the veterinary front, Dorey is doing quite well [...]

“You Will Hold Me Now”

Picture this scenario. My laptop is on my knees. I’m typing at the full extent of my arms’ length. I have little use of my left hand which Dorey is now using as a pillow. He has been stretched out on my chest as this picture shows. Would you say he’s [...]

A Rare Visitor – White Tipped Black

It would seem the Universe knew I needed a 10 minute break from this computer. I happened to look up a little while ago to see this tiny but vibrant creature on the butterfly bush. It’s a White-Tipped Black moth and according to this page, a bit of a rarity in these parts.

Explosions Close I-30, I-35 in Dallas

It’s NOT terrorism. Don’t even think it. But we have had a massive explosion in Dallas at a “gases” company. Acetylene apparently started it. The explosion shook downtown Dallas and rained debris as much as half a mile away. Click here for the latest story and here for the blog WFAA has set up for [...]

Reviewing “Saving Grace”

If you’re a fiend about spoilers, it’s conceivable you need to skip this post. I don’t give away the plot of the series pilot, but I do discuss some details about the major characters and overall thematic premise.
It amuses me that we have more channels coming in than ever after giving R. the HD television [...]

Monday Morning at the African Coffee Shop

This morning I have the African coffee shop to myself. Dorey and I left Fort Worth a little after 8:30 and in an absolute first, he did not toss his cookies in the car. (Let’s hear it for good drugs from Dr. Susan!)
Although I don’t like to drive in Dallas traffic, I have the route [...]

Gulf Fritillary and Gray Hairstreak

Gulf Fritillary and Gray Hairstreak

Originally uploaded by RanaW.

Taking this photo may have been the most normal thing I’ve done in the last two days. We’re in a mid-summer slump with the butterfly bush — nothing new coming in and greatly decreased numbers.
I know we’re just [...]

Afternoon Update on Dorey

I just spoke with the folks in Dallas. Dorey has made himself at home in Dr. Treuil’s office. Right now he’s snoring in a chair, but the good doc had best be careful. Dorey loves to sprawl on desks and will matter-of-factly knock anything off said surface that he does not deem to be a [...]

The Day Before the Short Homecoming

We are definitely a disrupted household. I keep waking up in the night reaching for Dorey. He doesn’t wake up when I touch him, but he does purr — loudly — a wonderful sound in the dark of the night. Mike and Andy are grumpy, R. is unsettled and difficult, and I’m just trying to [...]

Dorey Would Be Embarrassed

I am definitely the evil parent with a camera.

This was incredibly drunk Dorey after his four-hour ear cleaning.

And this is Dorey in the dreaded induction box this morning.
